Basalt, CO Zoe Smith
Basalt - Zoe Odessa Shen Smith, daughter of Thomas and Marilyn Smith and granddaughter of Neal and Cheryl Swann January 25, 2002 " July 11, 2010 returned to Heavenly Father peacefully in her sleep. In all her eight years, she was never far from angels. It was clear prior to birth that she was missing most of her brain. A complete diagnosis was never given. Her prognosis was two years with minimal development and no communication abilities. She surpassed all of these. She was considered a child with special needs. Truly she was special because of how she gave to all she met. More than anything, she loved being held by anyone, truly meaningful conversations to which she would respond with her own special songs, children of all ages, animals, music and water. Although she never spoke, she communicated her thoughts in so many ways, with her eyes, her beautiful smile, her outstretched arms and her very special songs. She reached out to everyone in spirit. She lived as long as she could and she loved every day. She is forever in our hearts as are the lessons she taught us with her gentle example. We look forward to the beautiful day when she welcomes us all home and we will all dance and sing together for joy!
Zoe is survived by her parents, Marilyn Swann Smith and Thomas Maxwell Smith, her brothers, Mason, Collin and Tyler Smith, her grandparents, Neal and Cheryl Swann and Alice Clay Smith, 27 aunts and uncles and 60 cousins.
