Wyndon Glen Ward

RICHMOND, UTAH WYN WARD

Wyndon Glen Ward, 65, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother passed away Nov. 28, 2009, at his home in Richmond. He was born Oct. 30, 1944 to Glen Passey and Carol Elizabeth Cranney Ward in Oakley, Idaho. Wyn grew up in Paris, Idaho and served in the Northern California LDS mission (1963-1965). He attended Utah State University where he met Julia Ann Tippetts. They were married on Sep. 8, 1967 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Wyn taught elementary and middle school for 31 years, teaching at Lewiston Elementary, North Cache Middle School and White Pine Middle School until he retired in 2000.
Wyn loved animals and ran a cattle ranch with his brother Keith for nearly 40 years. If he wasn't at school or doing Church service, he was teaching his kids how to work by moving pipe, swathing, hauling hay, or pulling calves at 3 a.m. on cold January mornings. Since retiring, he enjoyed spending hours farming with his grandsons and teaching them the ropes.
He was active in the LDS Church serving as Bishop three different times - Richmond 4th Ward (1987-1991), Richmond 2nd Ward (1996-2002) and University 57th Ward (2004-2008). He also served as a Bishopric counselor, Ward Executive Secretary and Stake Clerk and spent countless hours helping widows, working with the youth, and scraping snowy driveways. He emphasized the importance of becoming an Eagle Scout, serving a mission and marrying in the temple, and helped dozens of young people, including his three sons and daughter, accomplish these goals.
Wyn was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Kim. He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Julie, and his children Lori Ann (Erik) Durrant of Richmond, UT; Michael Wyndon (Jaime) Ward of American Fork, UT; Daren Reed (Jennifer) Ward of Logan, UT; and Bradley David (Shannon) Ward of Richmond, UT. Wyn has 9 grandchildren and one more expected next year.
He is also survived by seven siblings: Mary (Rondo) Erickson, Marcia (Mark) Wilson, Keith (Pamela) Ward, Kendall (Sonja) Ward, Brian (Sheri) Ward, Milt Ward, and Dale (Edie) Ward.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2009 at the Richmond LDS Stake Center (135 W. Main) at noon. Viewings will be held Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the stake center and Wednesday morning from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. prior to the funeral services. Interment will be in the Richmond Cemetery.
Wyn taught us all unconditional love, service and hard work. We look forward to the day when we will be reunited with him as an eternal family.
