PRESTON, IDAHO - - WINSTON ALLEN
PRESTON- Winston Smith Allen, 81, passed away on Monday, Jan. 31, 2011, at his home in Preston, Idaho.
Winston was born on Feb. 27, 1929, in Logan, Utah, to Thomas Smith Allen and Inez Madsen Allen. He grew up in Preston and following high school he attended Utah State University. He married Renee Dunkley of Franklin, Idaho, on Dec. 8, 1948, in the Logan LDS Temple. He operated Winston's Tire business on Main Street in Preston for many years. He later became a rural mail carrier for the United States Postal Service.
Winston and Renee have six children. His greatest joy was found while spending time with his family- whether motor biking, snowmobiling, boating, going on camping or hunting trips, or simply getting together for a family celebration. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and faithfully served in many capacities throughout his life. After retiring, Winston had the opportunity to serve with his eternal companion as an officiator in the Logan Temple for thirteen years.
He is preceded in death by his son, Kevin, and by two great grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Renee, and their children, (Susan) Allen of Dayton, Idaho; Kanda Lee (Craig) Alder of Spanish Fork, Utah; Travis (Beverly) Allen of Orem, Utah; Bryce (Brenda) Allen of W. Bountiful, Utah; Loralee (Kent) Merrill of Logan, Utah; and Angalee (Shane) Roberts of Nibley, Utah. He Is also survived by twenty-seven grandchildren, twenty-six great grandchildren, and two brothers, Warren (Faye) Allen of Logan, Utah; and Gary (Rita) Allen of McCall, Idaho.
Winston was a man of humility, possessing a great love for his family, for the beautiful world around him and for the gospel of Jesus Christ. He had a ready smile, a great sense of humor and gave out "Big Bear Hugs" a plenty. We will miss him dearly, but know that we'll see him again.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 5, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. at the Preston Tenth Ward Chapel, 155 N. 2nd W., Preston, Idaho, with Bishop Michael Andrus conducting. Friends may call Friday from 6-8 p.m. at Webb Funeral Home's new facility, 1005 South 800 East, Preston, Idaho, and Saturday from 12:30-1:30 p.m. at the church.
