Preston- Willis Leon Beckstead, 72, died unexpectedly Feb. 3, 2012, in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was born Jan. 28, 1940, in Preston, Idaho, the second of three sons to Ace William and Elvina Burton Beckstead. He served an LDS Mission to Hawaii from 1960-62. He married Julie Hawkes on May 11, 1962, in the Logan Temple.
His family was his life and he loved his grandchildren. He loved trucking and was involved in the trucking industry for over fifty years. Nothing made him happier than to go trucking with his sons. To quote his youngest son, Brandon, "Dad was proud of us. That's why he always had to have the "back door" to watch us."
He is survived by his wife, Julie of Preston; his children, Steven Beckstead of Preston; Audrey (Bruce) Wilson of O'Fallon, Missouri; Tony (Hali) Beckstead, Spencer (Bridget) Beckstead and Brandon (Carol) Beckstead all of Preston; nineteen grandchildren, two great grandchildren, his step-mother, Donna Beckstead of Mesa, Arizona; his brothers, Larry (Dorothy) Beckstead and Don (JoAnn) Beckstead both of Preston. He was preceded in death by his parents and by a granddaughter, Jessica Beckstead.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2012, at noon in the Preston South Stake Center, 55 E. 1st S., Preston with Bishop Mark Beckstead conducting. Friends may call Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at Webb Funeral Home, 1005 South 800 East, Preston, and Wednesday from 10:30-11:30 a.m. at the stake center.
