He found employment with Utah Power & Light Company in Ogden, Utah and relocated there. He married Joyce Arlene Draper June 7, 1954 in the Manti Utah temple shortly afterwards. They became the parents of five children. Bill loved gardening and his home was known for the roses that he grew. In his younger years, he like to ride broncs and received his pilot’s license, but little outweighed his love for the Lord and the Lord’s work because he loved sharing the gospel. Very seldom did you ever walk out of his room without copies of a few stories in your hand. They served two missions as a couple, one to the Philippines Islands and one to Columbus, Ohio to Rye State University working in Genealogy. At the time of his death, he was a High Priest in the Preston Eighth Ward.

He is survived by his daughter Lisa McDaniel of Pocatello, Idaho. His two sons David W. Pond of Preston, Idaho and John Bret (Trudie) Pond of Honeyville, Utah, thirteen grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren. He is also survived by his son-in-law Gary Carlson of Preston, Idaho and sister-in-law Ruth Swendsen of Lewiston, Utah.  He was extremely proud of his posterity and told us repeatedly in his final days.
