William Earl Fellows

Preston, Idaho - - - W. Earl Fellows

Preston - A giant has fallen. William Earl Fellows, 59, loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away at his home on Thursday, August 11, 2011 from the complications of a heart attack. He was born in Preston, Idaho on April 14, 1952 to Joseph Roper and Veda Goodsell Fellows. He was the fourth of six children. He attended schools in Preston and even as a child was very fussy about his school work. He graduated from Preston High School where he played football and was chosen for the SEIC All Star Team. He then attended Idaho State University on a football scholarship. He later attended BYU Provo. He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to the Italy North mission and had planned a return trip in October.

He met his wife, Cindy Marie Law, on a blind date and they were later married on September 5, 1974 in the Logan Temple. They were blessed with five children and nine grandchildren. He worked for Utah Power and Light for three years before moving back to run his father's farm. For many years, he took great pride in maintaining one of the top dairy herds in the state of Idaho, receiving recognition from the Idaho Dairyman's Association. After selling the dairy cows, the family undertook a new business venture and opened a custom cabinet and fireplace shop called The Woodsman. Earl enjoyed seeing the end result in each job. He served diligently in various church callings working with the youth and serving in the bishopric.

Earl loved the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, four-wheeling, and riding his motorbike with Cindy. He took pleasure in his horses. Whether it was riding with his family, or packing into the back country with the young men. He could be found in front of the TV for every BYU football game and enjoyed following the Utah Jazz. His greatest joy was his grandchildren. His free time was spent developing a family campground. His latest addition was the mountain slide.

His giant footsteps will never be filled, and he will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife Cindy, of Preston; and his five children Amy (Mike) Mierzejewski of Souix City, SD; Lisa (Jer) Barnard of Preston, William Easton Fellows, of Preston; Scott (Mignon) Fellows, of Lake Oswego, OR; and Katie (Bart) Bodily, of Cove, UT; nine grandchildren, his mother Veda Fellows, of Preston; and his brothers and sisters Jolene (Lynn) Winward, of Newberg, OR; Maxine (Bill) Poole, of Woods Cross, UT; Bob (DeAnn) Fellows, of Preston; Wayne (Ann) Fellows, of Preston; and Jed (Betty) Fellows, of Preston. He was preceded in death by his father Joseph Roper Fellows.

Funeral services will be held Monday, August 15, 2011 at 12:00 noon in the Preston 3rd Ward LDS chapel, 155 North 200 West in Preston with Bishop Leonard Ward conducting. A viewing will be held Sunday from 6-8 p.m. at Webb Funeral Home, 1005 South 800 East, in Preston and Monday from 10:30-11:30 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in the Preston Cemetery.
