William (Bill) C. Boer
William Cornelis Boer, 70, passed away on February 23, 2013 at the Franklin County Medical Center in Preston, Idaho, surrounded by family after a long battle with cancer. Bill was born September, 26, 1942 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Cornelis J. Boer and Catherine L. Lute. He married Janet L. Pitt on October 12, 1962 in Salt Lake City, Utah. They were later sealed in the Logan Temple in 1975.
Bill was proud of his Dutch heritage, a devoted husband and father of nine children and an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in many callings including Bishop, High Council, Young Mens, High Priests and Sunday School and truly loved the people he served. Bill's favorite callings were those when he served the elderly or the youth. He was involved in Scouting for over 40 years and was a recipient of the Silver Beaver Award. He was instrumental in helping many young men develop a love for camping and the outdoors and in obtaining the rank of Eagle Scout.
He is survived by his wife Janet Boer, four sons and five daughters; William C. Jr. (Nancy) Boer of Moorepark, California; Shawn (Nathlie) Boer of Star, Idaho; Pamela Snow of Duchesne, Utah; Cindy (Ryan) Smith of Herriman, Utah; Krista Boer of Ririe, Idaho; Bryan (Andrea) Boer of Odgen, Utah; Scott Boer of Salt Lake City, Utah; Amy (Richard) Benson of Wellsville, Utah; Elissa (Brent) Benson of Logan, Utah and 28 grandchildren and 1 great-grand child with many more to come. He is also survived by one brother, John Boer of Ririe, Idaho and one sister, Claudia Boer of Salt Lake City, Utah. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Mary and two brothers, Stephen and Rueben.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2013 at 12:00 pm at the Riverdale Chapel, 3562 N 1600 East, Preston, Idaho with Bishop Boyd Bradford conducting. Friends may call Friday from 6-8 p.m. at the Webb Funeral Home, 1005 S. 800 East, Preston, Idaho and Saturday from 10:30 - 11:30 at the Riverdale Chapel.
