Spokane - Wesley Ernest Olson, 93, passed away Sunday, November 20, 2011 in Spokane, Washington at Providence Holy Family Hospital. He was born on July 16, 1918 in Oxford, Idaho to Ernest Alexander Olson and Clara Alzina Hatch. He married Verna Lucy Reddington on July 26, 1937, in Salt Lake City, Utah.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and ejoyed doing temple work and family history. He was a worker in the Boise, Idaho Temple for a number of years and served in the Bishopric in the Spokane, Washington as well as a counselor in the Stake Presidency in Lewiston, Idaho. He was an avid Scouter, earning the prestigious Silver Beaver Award. Wesley joined the Navy in 1944 and was assigned to the CBEE's. He enjoyed the outdoors and being a mechanic, a skill he learned while in the Navy.
Wesley is survived by his children, Dennis W. (Joyce) Olson, of Utah; Nola Budge, of Maryland; Renae (Melvin) Clinger, of Wyoming; Jerry (Lola) Olson, of Montana; Tina (John) Fisher, of Washington; 31 grandchildren, and 112 great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Verna, two brothers Eldred W. Olson, and Lorrin H. Olson, and a son-in-law Arvin Budge.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 3, 2011 at 1:00 p.m.in the Clifton LDS Chapel. A viewing will be held on Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Church.
