Wayne Bert Boyack

PRESTON, IDAHO WAYNE BOYACK

PRESTON- Wayne Bert Boyack, 73, passed away peacefully in his sleep and returned home to his Father in Heaven on Dec. 23, 2011. He was born March 3, 1938, in Arco, Idaho, the son of Bert Elmer Boyack and Norma Verle Hanni. He was an only child to his parents who later divorced. Wayne and his mother came to Mink Creek where she married Freaman (Sailor) Jensen who helped raise Wayne from the age of eight. A brother, Ricky, was added to the family later. Wayne attended Preston High School where he met and married Reva Ann Sorenson on Nov. 9, 1956. Their marriage was solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple on May 26, 1963. They recently celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary with family.

Together they had six children: Bob (Olivia) Boyack, Curtis (Julie) Boyack, Dianne (Jeff) Seamons, Bryan (Cristi) Boyack, Tammy (Kevin) Boyack-Beck, and Julie (Shane) Gordon, all from the Preston area. He was affectionately named "Papa" by his granddaughter, Katelyn. "Papa" will be forever loved and remembered by his sixteen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. He will also be remembered by his countless neighbors, friends and family whom were blessed to know him.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served in numerous callings. He was a High Priest and was currently serving as a counselor in the Sunday School and as a Home Teacher. He worked in the auto body repair industry for McCune Motor and Palmer Motor companies for twenty-five years. He was a contracted bulk milk hauler for Western General Dairy. He also retired from Jack B. Parson Company. He was a member and Commander of the Franklin County Search and Rescue Auxiliary and a member of the original Jeep Posse. He was also a member of the Franklin County Fire Department. He served in the Army National Guard and was a member of the Preston Unit and acquired the rank of Sergeant First Class. He was honorably discharged and retired after thirty-one years of service from the Idaho National Guard (Preston Unit) as Motor Sergeant.

He enjoyed gatherings and cookouts with his family and friends. He enjoyed sports and watching his family participate in their various events. One of his greatest attributes was his knowledge and willingness to serve his family and neighbors with his "open door" policy for his garage. His favorite pastimes were working on his cars and trucks in his garage, camping and hunting with family, home remodeling, yard work and the "thrill" of a good yard sale.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Ricky; a son, Curtis; and by a daughter, Julie Boyack Gordon. He had a special place in his heart for animals, especially his cats, "Maggs" and "Harris".

He is survived by his wife, Reva; four children; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; two special cousins, JoAnn Cole and Sherrie Vanderwood; his stepmother, Troy Boyack; and by two half sisters, Lisa Carlyle and Holly Boyack.
