Preston, Idaho - - - Wanda C. Palmer
Preston - Wanda Checketts Palmer slipped away from mortality on October 23, 2009 to a glorious reunion with her eternal companion and other loved ones. Less than a month away from her 90th birthday, she dedicated life to serving the Lord and her family.
Born in Weston, Idaho November 16, 1919, she married William Dean Palmer on December 19m 1941 in the Logan Temple. She spent the first few years of married life living in Florida where her husband served in the military, and where her oldest two children were born. In 1946 she returned to Preston with her husband to live and raise eight children.
She had a unwavering testimony of the restored Gospel and studied her scriptures regularly until the end of her life. She served faithfully in many capacities in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, including service for 13 consecutive years as ward Relief Society Spiritual Living Teacher. For 12 years she served with her husband as an officiator in the Logan Temple. To better assist Spanish speaking temple patrons she took Spanish classes. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren and creating beauty in her home and garden.
She is survived by her eight children, William D. Jr. (Kelly), of Sandy, UT; Tayna (Bill) Godfrey, of Pocatello, ID; Dennis N (Jeanette) Palmer, of Scottsdale, AZ; Dr. Bradley C. (DeeAnn) Palmer, of Farmington, UT; Paula (Sid) Titensor, of Preston, ID; Dr. R. Clair (Valerie) Palmer, of Farmington, UT; Lynnie (Kim) Foster, of Providence, UT; and Dr. Laurence R. (Trudy) Palmer, of Ogden, UT; 34 grandchildren, (two current missionaries), 36 great grandchildren, two brother Lynn and Wendell Checketts, and four sisters Edna Jensen, Evelyn Morgan, Connie Stewart, and Opal Parkinson. She was preceded in death by her husband, W. Dean Palmer, parents, brothers Clyde and Norrell Checketts, and sisters Joyce Call, and Nita Cutler.
Funeral services will be held Friday, October 30, 2009 at 12:00 noon in the Preston 8th Ward chapel, 213 South 2nd East in Preston, Idaho with Bishop Randy Wakely conducting. Friends and family may call Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at Webb Funeral Home, 109 East Oneida in Preston and Friday from 10:30-11:30 at the church. Interment will be in the Preston Cemetery.
