W. Dean Gibson

Dean was born in Sugar City, ID to Willard C. and Rayola Heilsen Gibson. He was the oldest of three children and spent his early years in Eden and Franklin, ID. Dean graduated from Franklin High School and joined the United States Army at age 18. He was stationed at Fort Lewis and Japan. Upon Dean's return to the USA, he attended Utah State in Logan, UT.

Dean married Jeanne M. Burnham on 2/17/1950. They resided in Preston, ID for 1 year and was then hired by the Telephone Company and moved to Shelley, ID to be a lineman. Throughout his career with the telephone company, he lived in Blackfoot, Idaho Falls, Arco, Weiser, Boise, Burley, Twin Falls, and ended his career in Pocatello. Dean retired on 10/30/1982 at age 54.

During this time Dean and Jeanne were blessed with 3 beautiful daughters; Jan, Jil, and Julie. After his retirement, they moved to the ranch in Franklin, ID. For 9 years before building their home on the golf course in Preston, ID. In 2004 they moved to Twin Falls, ID where he resided until his death.

Dean is survived by 2 younger sisters; Darlene Mecham of Florida, and Carolyn (Ken) Shepherd, Kirkland, WA. His loving wife Jeanne and their 3 daughters; Jan and Larry, Twin Falls, ID, Jil and Tom, Boise and Julie, Pocatello, ID. Eleven grandchildren , twelve great- grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Bill and Rayola Gibson, mother-in-law Mabel Hutchinson, and sister-in-law Joanne Butterworth and by two brothers in law, Quinten Butterworth and Eldon Mecham.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, Oct. 11, 2013, at 1:00 p.m. in the Franklin Idaho Stake Center. Friends may call Thursday from 6:30-8 p.m. at Webb Funeral Home, 1005 South 8th East, Preston, Idaho and Friday from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at the stake center.
