PRESTON, IDAHO - - VINORA DURSTELER
PRESTON-Beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Virgia Vinora Hansen Dursteler passed away at the age of 91 on March 13, 2013, in Preston, Idaho. She was the first child of six born to Niels Wilford Hansen and Tora Virgia Wilde in Mink Creek, Idaho. The snow was higher than the fence posts on December 20, 1921, but that didn't stop Vinora's arrival with a little tuff of red hair at her neck. Being raised on the family farm delighted Vinora. She grew into a beautiful strawberry blonde and Randell Long Dursteler fell in love with her and proposed on their second date. They were married in the Franklin County Courthouse on Feb. 17, 1941, and their union was later solemnized in the Logan Utah Temple on Jan. 13, 1943.
Their first home was in the High Sierras of California. That was timber country and they loved their tiny cabin in the pines of Plumas. After World War II, Randy and Vinora made their home in Preston, Idaho. Their children Randa Kathrine, Marlin Wade and Kimberly Ane enjoyed many happy years in a home where love, honor, mutual respect and friendship was key and strived for each day. Vinora loved being a wife, a mother and a homemaker. Her natural abilities and talent for the arts and gardening made their home beautiful and comfortable. Vinora's quality touch was in everything she did.
She loved to sew and embroider, sketch and paint, ride horses, play cards and horseshoes, and go fishing and camping with her sweetheart and children. When her grandchildren started arriving all was expanded to include each one in all the campouts and cookouts and fishing trips. Vinora could do anything!
She served in many capacities as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She especially enjoyed the Franklin Stake Beehives, the nursery children in the Preston Second Ward and a 13 year mission as a French Extractor in the Family History Department. Being a good neighbor and a good visiting teacher meant the world to Vinora.
She was preceded in death by her dear ones, Randell and Randa, a daughter-in-law, Kathy Smout Dursteler; by a son-in-law, Ray N. Keller; by three sisters, Adria Mecham, MarDene Sparrow and Ane Ora Nielson and by a brother, Wilford Hugh Hansen. She is survived by Wade and Kim and fifteen grandchildren, thirty great-grandchildren, six great-great grandchildren and by her beloved brother, John C. Hansen.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 18, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at Webb Funeral Home, 1005 South 800 East, Preston, Idaho with Bishop Mark Beckstead conducting. Friends may call Monday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment will be in the Preston City Cemetery. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at www.webbmortuary.com
