Mead, Washington - - Verna R. Olson
Mead- Verna Lucy Redington Olson, 91, passed away Aug. 22, 2009 at her home in Mead, Washington. She was born Oct. 7, 1917, in Leslie, Idaho, the daughter of George Arthur and Lucy Addie Hawes Redington. She married Wesley Ernest Olson on July 26, 1937, in Salt Lake City, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan Utah Temple.
As a girl she loved horseback riding. She also enjoyed sewing, quilting, oil painting, reading, gardening, baking, dancing and her family. She was a foster parent for two years.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints having served in Relief Society as President and in other capacities, Young Women's advisor, Stake Dance Director and nursery leader. She was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers and served as Captain. She was a very creative, inclusive and compassionate person. She was hard working, very organized and enjoyed having fun. She had an incredible amount of faith in her Savior and loved her family dearly.
She is survived by her husband Wesley E. Olson of Mead; two sons and three daughters, Dennis W. (Joyce) Olson of Utah; Nola Budge of Maryland; Renae (Melvin) Clinger of Wyoming; Jerry J. (Lola) Olson of Montana; Tina (John) Fisher of Washington; 31 grandchildren, 103 great-grandchildren, and by two brothers, Lee (Naudine) Redington of Utah and Boyd (Pam) Redington of Utah. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and one sister, Ivan Redington, Bessie Fisher, Reid Redington, and by a son-in-law, Arvin Budge.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Sept. 5, 2009, at 10:00 a.m. in the Clifton Second Ward Chapel, Clifton, Idaho, with Bishop LaWrell Cook conducting.
