Dayton - Verl Irvin Page, 92, passed away peacefully on January 14, 2015 at the Franklin County Transitional Care Center in Preston, Idaho where he resided for the past two and a half years.  He was born on December 3, 1922 in Riverdale, Idaho at his grandmother MaryAnn McCombs' home, to James Irvin and Lareta McCombs Page.  He was a lifelong resident of Dayton, except serving in the Merchant Marines in 1945-1946. He married the love of his life, Helena Murri on July 17, 1946 in the Idaho Falls Temple.  He spent the remainder of his life on a dairy farm, working together with his father for 30 years.

 

Verl and Helena were blessed with seven children, three sons and four daugters.  The children were taught to work on the farm, thinning beets, picking potatoes and hauling hay.  Six of their seven children served missions and all have attended college.  He served faithfully as a an Aaronic Priesthood secretary for 14 years.  he supported scouting and one son and 16 grandsons have become Eagle Scouts. He worked with the boys and took them on hikes every spring for Aaronic Priesthood Commemoration.  He served as Sunday School Secretary and Sunday School President in the Dayton Ward.  As a member of the Oneida Stake Seventies Quorum, he assisted with activities sponsored by the quorum. He was a member of the Dayton City Cemetery Board for 30 years and served a time as chairman on the board.

 

He is survived by his wife Helena, of Dayton; and his children Shalene Albert of Roy, UT; Marva (Ned) Packer, of West Valley, UT; Clyde (Terri) Page, of South Jordan, UT; Janette Lund, of Rexburg, ID; Brett (Rosaline) Page, of Dayton; Verna (Gordon) Allred, of Holladay, UT; and Kelly (Cathryn) Page, of Dayton. He is also survived by 39 grandchildren, and 66 great grandchildren, and a sister Thelma (Argel) Stone, of Ogden, UT; and a sister-in-law Hazel Spackman, of Logan, UT.  He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Mary, and brothers Don and Keith. 

 

Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 19, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the Clifton LDS Chapel.  A viewing will be held on Sunday from 6-8 p.m. at Webb Funeral Home, 1005 South 800 East in Preston and Monday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the church in Clifton.  Interment will be in the Dayton Cemetery.  Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at www.webbmortuary.com
