Preston - Valgene Stanley (Gene) Anderson, loving father, husband and friend to countless, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 28, 2009 at his winter home in St. George, UT. Dad was the second of three children born to A.W. (Jack) and Eva Anderson in Rexburg, ID on September 23, 1928.
At a young age, Dad moved with his family to Preston, ID where he lived the rest of his life. Dad graduated from Preston High School in 1946 and married his high school sweetheart, Karol Louise Phippen, on February 2, 1948 in Preston. Dad, along with his father, were photographers taking school, group, family, individual and wedding pictures all over Southern Idaho. After dad and mom retired, they spent the winter months in St. George and the summer months in Preston.
Dad is survived by his wife of 61 years, his children Vicki Harris, Salt Lake; Michael (Kim), Preston; Steven (Becky), St. George and Scott (Robyn), Preston. Also surviving him are eight grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, his brother Bob (Pauline) Anderson, Preston; his sister Kaye, Salt Lake; and a large extended family. Our dad was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson.
Funeral services will be held Monday, February 2 at 11:00 am in the Preston 7th Ward, 155 N 200 W under the direction of Bishop Jeff Elgan. A viewing will be held at Webb Mortuary, 109 E Oneida Sunday, February 1, from 6-8 pm and on Monday from 9-10:30 am at the church prior to the services.
