Timothy Duane Tanner “Pops” returned to his heavenly home surrounded by loved ones on September 8th, 2023, after his 3-month battle with cancer. He was born on May 2nd, 1961, in Sacramento, CA. He is the son of Frank and Sue Tanner of Oceanside, CA.
He married Karen Tanner (Arimo, ID) on August 15th, 1986, and they were later divorced. Together they raised eight children. Tim found happiness again when he met and later married Carol Ann Tanner (Richmond, UT) on April 23rd, 2021. They were sealed in the Logan, UT temple on October 23rd, 2021.
Tim enjoyed watching and playing sports of all kinds, the favorite of which being water polo, which he enjoyed as a player and as a fan as 7 of his children played the sport. He was an avid and forever BYU Cougars fan. He collected sports memorabilia for decades and passed down that love to his children. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and family and always made family time a priority.
He worked in education for 35 years, 5 as a teacher and 30 years in administration. He was an active member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served faithfully in many church callings, but his favorite calling was as a gospel doctrine teacher. He served a Latter-Day Saint Mission in Argentina and developed the ability to speak Spanish which he used regularly throughout his adult life. He was an Eagle Scout and helped each of his sons achieve that honor as well. He enjoyed playing board games of all kinds and had a knack for various trivia and fact games.
He is survived by his parents; wife, Carol Ann Tanner of Richmond, ID; his six sons, three step sons, two daughters, one step daughter and their spouses: Timothy G. Tanner of Rexburg, ID; Michael F. Tanner of Isengard, ME; Matthew C. Tanner of Sugar City, ID; Daniel D. Tanner of Arimo, ID; David A. Tanner of Oceanside, CA; Kahjai J. Martinez of Las Vegas, NV; Brandon G. The family would like to thank the staff at Gossner Cancer Center in Logan, UT for their diligence and care of our beloved Pops.
