Thelma Faye Griffiths

Thelma Faye Doane Griffiths, 80, passed away on April 8, 2016 at her home of natural causes. She was born on May 16, 1935 in Logan, Utah to Alonzo (Tobe) and Thelma Bair Doane. She was only three pounds when she was born. The Dr. said to just take her home and take care of her, as that was the best they could do at that time.

Faye graduated from North Cache High School and attended USU for a while. She loved singing, and sang like a song bird with much feeling. She fondly remembered winning the Farm Bureau singing contest. Reed and Faye enjoyed singing together for many years.

Reed and Faye met on a blind date. Reed always said that her million dollar smile and musical voice were what won him over. They were married on December 10, 1954 in the Logan Temple. Their life started in the desert of Blackfoot, Idaho. She rode the dump rake as they broke up the ground. They moved to Weston in 1957 where they helped on the family farm, which they later purchased. Together they spent many happy and challenging years farming.

Faye enjoyed cooking, canning, sewing, quilting, crocheting and crafting. A big highlight in her life was attending family events and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved animals and we often said that she should have been a veterinarian. Faye served in many church callings including primary, relief society, and several music callings. They gained a new family when they spent several years officiating in the Logan Temple. She especially enjoyed working with the Spanish language. She has had many hugs from people she helped in the temple.

She is survived by her husband Reed, of Weston, her children Cindy (Brent) Corbridge, of Weston; Kelly (Michele) Griffiths, of North Logan, UT; Lori (Jay) Thompson, of Tremonton, UT; Brent (Desann) Griffiths, of Garland, UT; Brian (Kim) Griffiths, of Garland, UT; 19 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters Billilu (Richard) Bagley, of Richmond, UT; and Judy (Lynn) Greene, of Logan, UT. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a son Tracy Reed Griffiths.
