RICHMOND, UTAH TED NELSON
Owen Ted Nelson beloved husband, Father, Grandfather, son, brother, uncle and friend passed away August 8, 2011. He died after a long battle with cancer.
He was born December 8, 1936, to Owen Thompson and Edna Spackman Bright Nelson. He lived in Richmond, Utah all of his life.
The love of his life is Sharon Burbank. They met at Cal Pack in Franklin, Idaho, where Mom was working. Dad courted Mom the following year and then they married in the Idaho Falls Temple on August 15, 1958.
Dad was a farmer and truck driver by trade. His passion was driving truck. He loved his many friends and time spent visiting with them.
Dad spent many hours working with his family on the farm. He enjoyed working the land and raising animals to teach his children to work.
He enjoyed hunting and working cattle. On our excursions he always had a story of previous rides. He loved to listen to the Bar J Wranglers. They spent their 50th Wedding Anniversary with the family in Jackson Hole sitting on the front row listening to the Bar J. He enjoyed watching football, basketball, baseball and any old western movie.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He enjoyed serving in different callings throughout the years.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon, three sons and four daughters: Jeffery Ted (Valerie) Evanston, WY, Richard (Evelyn), Hamer, ID, Laurilee (Bruce) Tarbet, Richmond, UT, Roberta Nelson, Richmond, UT, Diane Crawford, Richmond, UT, Neal B. (Heather), Thatcher, UT, Tera (Travis) Maughan, Mt Sterling, UT, and Nicole Mondo, Richmond, UT. He is also survived by his sister, Carol Curry, Littleton, CO. He also is survived by 24 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren with another one on the way.
He is preceded in death by his parents, sister, Elaine Phillips, son, Tony Alvaro Nelson, granddaughter, Melissa Ann Nelson, and great-grandson, Kyle McCoy Nelson.
Funeral services will be held at the Richmond Stake Center, 135 W. Main, Richmond, on Saturday, August 13th, 2011 at 1:00p.m. Prior to the funeral there will be a viewing from 11a.m. to 12:45a.m. There will also be a viewing on Friday Evening from 6p-8p at the Richmond Stake Center. Interment will be in the Richmond Cemetery.
