Riverdale, Idaho Susan T. Packer Mecham
Riverdale - Susan Jane Tate Packer Mecham, 96, passed away peacefully in her sleep on June 26, 2012 at her home in Riverdale, Idaho. She was born in Riverdale, Idaho on January 1, 1916 to James Plumb and Susan Jane Muir Tate. She married Rex Smith Packer on December 10, 1936 in the St George, Utah LDS Temple. He preceded her in death. She later married Earl Mecham, who also preceded her in death.
Susan grew up in Riverdale helping on the family farm. She graduated from Preston High School in 1934. She was active in the LDS Church, in the Young Women and Relief Society Organizations. She loved to crochet and quilt. We all have something she made. She loved her family and the time spent with them.
She is survived by her son Trent Tate (Sheryl) Packer, of Rigby, ID; daughters Judy Edgar, of Riverdale, ID and Golden Valley, AZ; Suelyn Murdock, of Boise, ID; Brenda (Dwight) Rawlings, of Montrose, CO; daughter-in-law Jeannette (Kimble) Smith, of Riverdale, ID; and a foster son Edward Fasthorse, of Solen, ND; 18 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, and several step-grand and great grandchildren, and three sisters-in-law. She was preceded in death by her parents, her two husbands Rex Packer and Earl Mecham, a son Ronnie Scott Packer, six brothers and four sisters, and a son-in-law Theo Murdock.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 30, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the Riverdale First Ward LDS Chapel, with Bishop Boyd Bradford conducting. A viewing will be held on Friday from 6-8 p.m. at Webb Funeral Home, 1005 South 800 East, in Preston, and Saturday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in the Riverdale Cemetery.
