Preston - Specialist Cody Otho Moosman 24, died Tuesday of injuries he suffered when his unit was attacked with small-arms fire in Gayan Alwara Mandi, Afghanistan. He was born Aug. 4, 1987 to Dennis and Mareen Moosman.
Cody loved the Mountains and the outdoors. He attended and graduated from Franklin County High School. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and had completed his Eagle Scout badge. He was helped by Gary Mckenzie making 13 special wooden cases that were placed in all the churches in the stake by the bishops offices and stake offices as his eagle project. He has a quick smile that we will always remembered. He loved doing things with his nieces and nephews and many friends and family. He worked at Lowes, Preston Plastic plant, Grain growers and Securitas. He had a geo car he painted with cottonwood leaves in a camouflage pattern. Everyone knew it was his pride and joy. He joined the military in May of 2010 and told us he had dreamed of being a solider since he was in 3rd grade. He attended Basic training at Ft. Benning, Georgia followed by para trooping school for three weeks after basic training. He completed 5 successful jumps. Cody was assigned to a U.S. Army Unit out of Fort Riley, Kansas as an active-duty soldier. He was deployed to Afghanistan on May 13, 2012.

He is survived by his parents, Dennis and Mareen Moosman, of Preston; a brother timothy (Brenda) Moosman, of Preston; a sister Shelly Kohles, of Preston; a sister Amanda Moosman of Preston; a brother Doyle (Aline)Moosman , of Preston; and his grandparents Otho and Shirlene Moosman, of Banida, ID; many aunts and uncles and cousins and seven nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by younger brother Ret Moosman, his grandparents Ray and Ruth Ormond, and a brother Steven, who was stillborn.

Funeral services will be held Friday, July 13,2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the Preston North Stake Center, 310 North State Street in Preston, with Bishop Tom Madsen conducting. A viewing will be held Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Webb funeral Home 1005 South 800 East in Preston and Friday from 9:30 " 1030 a.m. at the stake center. Interment will be in the Preston Cemetery. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at www.webbmortuary.com.
