Franklin, Idaho - - - Sidney M. Atkinson
Franklin - Sidney Max Atkinson, passed away July 31, 2012 surrounded by his family in Franklin, Idaho following a short battle with cancer. He loved life and fought to the end to stay with his family. He made it to his 57th birthday. He was born on July 28, 1955, to Max D. and Marilyn Jorgensen Atkinson. He spent his youth growing up in Franklin and enjoyed to the fullest all the activities a small town could offer. He graduated from Preston High School where he played football and was a lifetime friend to many of his classmates. After graduation, Sid got his journeyman plumber's license. He worked throughout the country and spent the last 25 years living in Nicholls, Georgia. He was a very hard worker and took pride in the work he did for commercial buildings in that area. He kept an immaculate yard and enjoyed working outdoors. He was known for his positive outlook, humor and wit. He always had a good joke or story to share. He was loving and caring to everyone he knew, especially his wife and mother.
He leaves behind his devoted wife, Gail Murray Atkinson; 4 sons, Braden Sid Atkinson (Heidi) Smithfield, Utah; Ryan Rodney Atkinson (Dani) Smithfield, Utah; Tyler Sid Atkinson (Mallory) Salt Lake City, Utah; and Spencer Kade Atkinson, Franklin, Idaho, and grandchildren Mason, Gabrielle, Max, Morgan Barthlome, Haiden, Brooklyn, and Lacia Atkinson. He is also survived by his mother Marilyn Atkinson of Franklin, Idaho, and his sisters and brothers: Debbie Parry (Dennis), Jan Bradley (Mark), Rick Atkinson (Eva), Jackie Maddock (Randy), Sue Ann Pearce ( Mike) and Robert (Lesia) Atkinson and many nieces, nephews and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his father, Max D. Atkinson and brother-in-law, Gary Bell.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 4 at 1:00 p.m. in the Franklin LDS Stake Center, 106 East Main in Franklin, Idaho. A viewing will be held Friday from 6-8 p.m. at Webb Funeral Home, 1005 South 800 East, in Preston and Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the stake center.
