Shirley Forman Keller was born April 30, 1938 to Charles LeRoy and Afton Bennett Forman. She joined two brothers, Keith and Duane, and later, a younger sister, Elva Ann joined the family. Shirley attended elementary school in Thatcher, Idaho and graduated from Grace High School. She was an excellent student and enjoyed learning.
After graduation, she was recommended for a job at Utah Power and Light. She enjoyed that job and the guys that worked with her took care of her. One of them made her a sprinkler that is in her yard to this day.
Shirley married Oral S. (Bud) Keller, June 21, 1957, in the Logan, Utah temple for time and all eternity. They had 5 children, Kim, Ryan, Terri, Quinn, and Jeff. Ryan drowned in Paul, Idaho where Bud and Shirley homesteaded for a short time. After Ryan’s death, Bud and Shirley returned to Cleveland, Idaho where they raised their other four children.
Shirley sewed most of her children’s clothes. She was an excellent seamstress and chaired the sewing booth at the Caribou County Fair for several years. When her children were all in school, Shirley became a secretary in the Grace School District for Neldon Kingston. She enjoyed assisting Mr. Kingston in his research and development of educational materials. When that job came to an end, she became an aid at the Thatcher Elementary School. She quit that job and helped Bud, operate a dairy farm and milk cows. When Bud’s arthritis worsened and they got out of the cow milking business she became a certified life guard and worked part time at Riverdale Resort for several years. Then she became an employee of Franklin County Medical Center. She worked there until she retired.
Shirley was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She served in Sunday School, Primary, and Relief Society.
Shirley was preceded in death by her son, Ryan Charles Keller, her parents, Charlie and Afton Forman, her granddaughter, Shakeara Petterborg, and her husband Bud. She is survived by her children Kim (Wally) Christensen, Mink Creek Idaho, Terri (Jerry) Petterborg, Preston, Idaho, Quinn (Camille) Keller, Santa Quin, Utah, Jeff (Jennifer Brooks) Keller, West Valley City Utah, 16 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
