Sharon Ruth Mangum Bliss, 75, passed away surrounded by her family on Sunday, March 30, 2014 at the Logan Regional Hospital in Logan, Utah. She was born May 18th 1938 to Montell Eccles Mangum and Ruth Afton Dahle Mangum and reunited with her eternal and forever love Douglas Lynn Bliss on March 30th 2014.
Sharon learned how to live a life of service from her mother. This is a blessing that has followed her throughout her life. In the end of her days she was still thinking of ways to be of service to her family. Sharon loved her family dearly. She enjoyed playing and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Sharon has had a varied and diverse career path. Some of her accomplishments were building some if the first microprocessors, experiments and satellites that entered space on numerous Space Shuttle missions from the Space Dynamics Laboratory and Space Systems Engineering with USU and a land developer. She has been devoted to genealogy for over 40 years. She served at the family history library located inside the Logan, Utah Tabernacle and in Preston, Idaho. She has been the family history teacher for various wards. She served as an ordinance worker in the Logan LDS Temple on and off for over 20 years. She was always ready with names to go to the temple for baptisms for the dead and other temple ordinance work. Sharon helped many individuals prepare their own personal histories and research their lineage. She has been author and co-author to many family and personal history books that are used to this day by the Church of Jesus Crist of Latter Day Saints, Daughters of the Utah Pioneers and in the Wyoming State library. She is proud of her ancestors and what they sacrificed so that her family could thrive. Sharon also served as a 4-H teacher, Cub Scout Leader, Boy Scout Leader and Sunday School Teacher just to name a few. Even though Sharon's life was filled with hard and bitter sweet trials she never lost her tenacity, sense of humor and testimony of the Lords plan for us.
Sharon will be dearly missed by her surviving family, Kaye Wallace (sister), Winn and Linda Egan (Bother-in-law and sister), Michael (Shelly) Bliss, Kathlene (Jay) Keller, Bruce Bassett (son-in-law), eight grandchildren and their spouses, six great grandchildren and numerous friends that she counted as family.
