Saundra Inez Thomas Hubbard

Saundra Inez Thomas Hubbard, 79, passed away Saturday, October 15, 2022, among family at her home in Preston.

She was born the youngest of four children to John Harold Thomas and Mary Inez Reeve Thomas at Logan, Utah, on Nov, 4 1942. She grew up in the Tremonton and Brigham City areas and was a proud classmate of Box Elder High School class of 1961.

She married Elber J Hubbard on April 15, 1960. They lived in Brigham City, UT, Payette, Malad area, and settled in Preston, Idaho in 1971. They were the parents of three sons, Darrell, Jeffrey, and Kevin.  Together with her husband they owned and operated Hubbard Packing Company for over 40 years.   

Always busy and never afraid to get to work, Saundra was employed from a young age and remained active and engaged in the community throughout her life. In addition to the various roles and connections made through her business, Saundra was involved in civil and social organizations.   She was active in the Idaho Womens’ Bowling Association where she served as a state officer and president of the association for 16 years.  Locally, Saundra was involved in the Chamber of Commerce, serving as the chamber president twice in 1982 and 2002.  She loved her community and believed it could always be better and become more beautiful as evidenced by her service on the Planning and Zoning Board and the Preston City Council.   She was involved in the Franklin’s Lions Club, recognized by the Elks, and was honored to be the lamplighter at the Preston Festival of Lights parade in 2017. 

Saundra was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She enjoyed working with the youth and served in the Cub Scouts, Webelos, sports, Relief Society and most recently the Heritage Senior Living. She especially enjoyed the opportunity to serve in the Logan Utah Temple.

She is survived by her sons; Darrell (Nancy) Hubbard, Oceanside, CA.; Jeffrey (Belle) Hubbard, Preston, ID and Kevin (Michelle) Hubbard, Preston, ID. She is also survived by her brother Stanford Thomas as well as her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her in-laws, Myrle and Alice Hubbard, her sister Joelynn Thomas Hunsaker and her brother John Gardell Thomas.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at the Preston 3rd Ward Chapel, 155 N. 200 W. Preston, Idaho. The services will be streamed live and may be watched Wednesday at 11 am (MST) by clicking on the following link:

A viewing will be held Tuesday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at Webb Funeral Home, 1005 S. 800 E. Preston, Idaho and Wednesday from 9:30-10:30 am at the Preston 3rd Ward Chapel. Interment will be in the Holbrook Idaho Cemetery. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at webbmortuary.com
