Sallee L. Keller

Sallee L. Sant Torfin Keller, 78, passed away on Dec. 8, 2013, at the Franklin County Medical Center in Preston, Idaho. She was born August 1, 1935 in Pocatello Idaho, the first daughter of Percy and Fern Sant. She graduated from Grace High School in 1953. Then worked in Pocatello Idaho for IBM which was a job she truly loved.

With a love of horses, especially her horse "Lady," she became queen of that Famous Preston Night Rodeo in 1954.

She Married Milton Torfin and they had four children. They later divorced and she married Vernon Keller of Mink Creek Idaho and together they raised 9 children, five sons and four daughters.

She loved living on the farm in Mink Creek with Vernon, she milked the cows every day, twice a day, for forty years. She also delivered the mail around the valley for years, and loved getting to know everyone and where they all lived. She knew everyone in town and they knew her.

After retiring from the post office, she took a job delivering newspapers just to keep busy. Delivering them in the middle of the night because she thought people needed their paper before sunrise!

Sallee enjoyed taking long rides around the valley with anyone who was willing to take her. She loved to see what everyone was up to, and loved to talk about her greatest blessings, that being her 9 children, 24 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren.

She is survived by husband Vernon Keller, five sons, and four daughters. Kelton (Denise) Keller, Kurt Torfin, Kim (Dianna) Keller, Clay (Nancy) Torfin, Casey (Glenda) Torfin, Kay (Jeff) Hill, Kristi (Brett) Hall, Karla (Chris) Jensen, Karma (Doug) Wood; and by two sisters, Judy Mansfield and Loni Lish. She was preceded in death by her parents and by a sister, Jeanene Sant.
