GRACE, IDAHORUTH L. VARLEY Ruth Naomia Lasley Varley, 94, passed away November 12, 2007, at the home of her daughter in Grace, Idaho. She was born September 22, 1913, to Heber William Lasley and Cassie Muir Lasley, at the home of her maternal grandparents in Logan, Utah. She married Harold Winegar Varley December 24, 1937, in Soda Springs, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan Temple.She was educated at Grace High School, Utah State Agricultural College, and Albion Normal School. She taught 4th and 5th grades in Grandview, Idaho for several years. This is where she met her husband, Harold. They spent most of their years in Grace, Idaho, where she was active in community affairs and the LDS church. She was instrumental in co-editing and compiling the book "Gems of Our Valley," a history of Gem Valley. She is survived by four daughters: Sandra Webb (Douglas), Preston, Idaho; Kathleen Whitehead (Brent), Bexley, Ohio; Nina Johnson (Norman), Grace, Idaho; and Susan Munk (Martin), Rockland, Idaho. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren,14 great grandchildren, and a sister, Charlotte Peterson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; brother, Angus Lasley; brother-in-law, Don Peterson; and sister-in-law, Althea Lasley. Funeral services will be held Friday, November 16, 2007, at 12:00 noon in the Grace Idaho Stake Center with Bishop Craig Wilker conducting. The family will receive friends Thursday from 7-8 p.m. at Sims Funeral Home in Soda Springs, Idaho and Friday from 10:30-11:30 a.m. at the stake center. Interment will be in the Grace Cemetery.
