Fairview - What a wonderful Christmas time for Ruth Purser Owens as she was reunited with her eternal companion, Richard, when she passed away Tuesday, December 22, 2009 surrounded by her family. Ruth was born March 6, 1919 in Hyde Park, Utah to Lyman Albert and Abbie Hyde Purser. She married Richard N. Owens on October 4, 1942 in Elko Nevada. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple.

She was a wonderful mother raising and loving 11 children. She was an active member of the LDS Church and served faithfully in the Relief Society, Sunday School, and Primary. She enjoyed sewing, piecing quilts and cooking. She loved to read, and grew a beautiful garden.

She is survived by her children Darrelyn (Elroy) McDermott, of Cheney WA; Karen (Robert) Coleman, of Terreton, ID; Kaylene (Marvin) Golightly, of Preston, ID; Gay (John) O'Hara, of Bountiful, UT; Richard (Peggy) Owens, of Preston, ID; Janet (Kim) Williams, of Firth, ID; Debbie (Chuck) Sistrunk, of Preston, ID; Farris (Elizabeth) Owens, of Vancouver, WA; Angela (David) Esplin, of Firth, ID; Marshal (Faith) Owens, of Preston, ID; and Vance (Denise) Owens, of Brookings, SD; 93 grandchildren, 86 great grandchildren, and 7 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard, her parents, a sister Darlene Bair, and her brothers John, Hyde, Eugene, and Arland Purser, and a grandson Eric Esplin.

Funeral services will be held Monday, December 28, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in the Preston South Stake Center, 55 East 1st South in Preston with Bishop Quinn Corbridge conducting. A viewing will be held Sunday from 6-8 p.m. at Webb Funeral Home, 109 East Oneida, in Preston and Monday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery.
