Preston - Rowene "Wink" Buxton Ransom, passed away Saturday, May 14, 2011 at the Franklin County Medical Center in Preston, Idaho. Wink was born in Driggs, Idaho, the seventh of 10 children born to Lester and Mercedes Buxton. Her family moved to Lewiston, Utah when she was five years old.

Wink grew up on a farm and loved to ride the draft horses around the field with her dad. That is where she learned to yodel. She continued to love horses all her life. She went on many trail rides, and rode a side saddle in an old fashioned dress during the Preston Parade.. Next to horse she loved to camp. She served as either ward or stake camp director for over 18 years. She could lash together a table and chairs to make any camping experience more exciting and comfortable. She could cook anything in a dutch oven or over an open fire. Wink loved to cook. During the summer she was always up to her ears in tomatoes and peppers canning salsa for neighbors, friends, and relatives. She always made two casseroles and took one to whoever was in need. She worked for Presto Products in Lewiston for 25 eyars before retiring.

She is survived by her children, Judy Spackman, of Burley, ID; Karen (Dennis) Webster, of Glendale, ID; David Ransom, of Preston; Tom (Sue) Ransom, of Preston; Stephanie (Kip) Didericksen, of Star, ID; and Douglas Ransom, of Preston, 19 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, two sisters Alice Poole, of Lewiston, UT, and Joyce Tarbet, of Benson, UT; two brothers Val Buxton, or Orem, UT; and Nate Buxton, of Preston. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Paul B. Ransom, two sisters, Mary Hansen and Helen Layne, and three brother, Lyle Buxton, Alfred Buxton, and Ted Buxton.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the Preston South Stake Center, 55 East, 1st South, with Wink's dear friend, Bishop Quinn Corbridge conducting. A viewing will be held on Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at the Stake Center and Wednesday from 9:30-10:30 also at the Stake Center. Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery.
