Preston, Idaho Roland F. HobbsPreston - After a valiant battle with cancer, our father, Roland F. Hobbs, passed away surrounded by his family on December 19, 2008. He was born February 28, 1954 to Leonard Struve and Opal Farnes Hobbs, the fourth of seven children. He attended Preston High School where he graduated in 1972. He married Cinda Lee Bingham and together they had five children. They were later divorced. He later married the love of his life Rozanne Nelson on January 25, 1992.Roland loved the outdoors. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and exploring, but his true obsession was gold mining. He loved working his on his claims in Montana. Those places and times were very special to him and he always tried to surround himself with family so they could enjoy it with him. Dad had an interesting work history throughout life ranging from working the oil rigs to making cabinets and construction, to finally starting and operating a waterproofing company, H&H Waterproofing. The job he was best at though was being there for his family, a dedicated husband, a loyal father, and an exceptional grandfather. He will be deeply missed but always with us in our hearts.He is survived by his wife Rozanne Hobbs, of Preston, his children Jeremy (Sarah) Hobbs, of Preston; Brandon (Jenny) Hobbs, of Roberts, ID; Sadie (Patrick) Hall, of Preston; Brittney (Max) Olsen, Franklin, ID; Cody Hobbs, of Franklin; and a stepson Jason (Dawna) Hall, of Preston; 14 grandchildren, two brothers Roy (Linda) Hobbs, of Iona, ID; David (Jenny) Hobbs, Whitney, ID; three sisters Trena (Bob) Purser, of Fairview, ID; Karen (Lynn) Hoggan, of Tucson, Arizona; and Tammy (Brian) Bingham, of Preston; and his mother-in-law Rosalyn Nelson of Preston. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Brent Hobbs, and his father-in-law Wynn Nelson.Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 23, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. in the Preston South Stake Center 55 East 1st South in Preston. Friends may call Monday from 6-8 p.m. at Webb Funeral Home, 109 East Oneida, in Preston and Tuesday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the stake center. Interment will be in the Whitney Cemetery.
