Preston, Idaho - - - Roberta S. West
Preston - Our cherished loved one, Roberta (Bobbie) Smith West, 96, passed away on October 25, 2009 in Preston Idaho after a short illness. She was born October 8, 1913, to George G. and Emily Farnes in Logan, Utah. She married her high school sweetheart Philip L. West, June 20, 1934, Logan Temple.
She attended USU (USAC) and played the lead in theater productions. Bobbie was caregiver for her aging parents as well as many other extended family members. She was a gifted artist receiving numerous awards at art exhibits, a member of Preston Ladies Literary, a Daughter of Pioneers Syringa Camp, member of Lady of Elks, Preston. She had many special interests including gardening, shopping, traveling worldwide, dancing, golfing, fishing, and boating. She served as co-pilot for her husband, camped and wintered in Arizona with friends. She welcomed countless friends and family and entertained them in the home and yard she loved.
Bobbie was a co-founder and partner with her husband and family in West Motor Co. established in 1945.
She is survived by her daughter Sidney K. Carpenter, of Salt Lake City, UT; sons, George P West (Janet) Bountiful, UT; Ralph F West (Susan) Preston, Douglas R West (Wendy) Preston, Jocelyn Fannin (Adrian) Boise, ID; 13 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Philip L West in 1998, her daughter, Patricia West in 1940, sisters, Marjorie Roussier, Edith S Shaw, one great-granddaughter, Katlyn West and one great-great-granddaughter, Macy Rae Bagley.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 29, 2009 at Allen Mortuary North Logan, 420 East 1800 North, in North Logan, UT at 12:00 noon. A viewing will be held Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at Webb Funeral Home, 109 East Oneida, in Preston, Idaho and Thursday from 10:30-11:30 a.m. at Allen Mortuary North Logan prior to the services. Interment will follow services at Logan City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Preston High School Art Dept. through Lewiston State Bank 217 S State, Suite B, Preston ID, 83263.
