Preston, Idaho - - - - Robert C. Stone
Preston - Our beloved Husband, Father, and Grandfather Robert Charles Stone passed away peacefully at his home on March 30th, 2010 surrounded by his family. He was born December 30th, 1937 to Hilliard Charles and Edna May Wakley Stone. He was raised in Downey Idaho until the age of 4, then moved to Dayton Idaho until the age of 6, and then moved to Preston where he lived the remainder of his life. He graduated from Preston High School and enjoyed playing football. He met and married the love of his life, Carolyn Marie Smith on March 27,1959.
He worked for the Union Pacific Railroad for eighteen years which required him to be out of town a lot, so he decided to work locally to be with his family. He was the proud owner of Stone's Auto and continued to run that until he retired in 1999. A year later his wife retired and they have spent many years enjoying each other's company and many good times with their family. He was an active member of the Preston Elks lodge for many years and a past Exalted Ruler.
He loved to fish and hunt and be outdoors. Nothing better than a good old Sunday drive to Fort Hall for some Bingo! He enjoyed camping, 4 wheeling, picking huckleberries, and just being with his family. He was very proud and protective of his three beautiful girls. He was the best grandpa to seven wonderful grand kids. The greatest joy in his life was his wife and soul mate of 51 years.
He is survived by his wife Carolyn, of Preston; three daughters Kristie (Randy) Larsen, of Preston ID, Karen (Tom) Lester, of Carlin NV, and Lisa (Matt) Gleed, of Preston ID. He is also survived by seven grandchildren: Trevor Larsen, Amber Lester, Blade Lester, Jordan Gleed, Garret Gleed, Austin "Stone" Gleed, and Kenzie Gleed. He is preceded in death by his parents and two siblings.
