Winder - Robert Emmett lindhardt returned to his heavenly home on Friday, November 2, 2012 surrounded by his family at his daughter's home in Thatcher, Idaho. He was born on March 15, 1931 in Ogden, Utah, the eldest son of Marion Joseph and Marie Emmett Lindhardt. The family soon returned to their home in Winder, Idaho. Over the next few years the family grew to include Joyce, Sherman, Carol, Ross, and Larry. They had to work hard for their sustenance, working on the family dairy, bottling and delivering milk as well as all the other chores that farm life demands.

He graduated 8th grade from the old yellow brick school in Winder and then went on to Preston High School where he graduated in 1949. After graduating from high school he went to California and started working with his father on the railroad. In 1952 he was drafted into the Army during the Korean War. After his discharge from the Army he attended BYU and the University of Utah Trade School where he earned his journeyman's license and continued to work in that field until 1958. he then returned home to Preston to help his family and worked at Palmer Implement and eventually buying the business with his brothers in 1976 and changed the name to Lindhardt International. They owned and operated the business for 34 years closing in January of 2011. Bob was 80 at the time of the closing.

On the 24th of June 1960 he married Pauline Palmer in the Logan LDS Temple. They made their home on the family farm in Winder. To this union eight children were born. Bob had a strong testimony of the Gospel and loved to share his testimony. Many hours were spent listening to and counseling friends and strangers that would seek him out. He was actively involved in the LDS church where he served in many callings as Stake President of the Preston North Stake for eight years and most recently Stake Patriarch for 18 years. His favorite calling was teaching Sunday School to the 15-16 year olds.

He served as a board member for the American Indian Services at BYU. He served on the Preston School Board for 16 years. He was instrumental in developing the culinary water systems for the Winder and Banida areas. He was also director and president for the Strongarm Irrigation District.

Bob is survived by his sweet wife Pauline, and their children Mary (Bob) Nelson, of Pocatello, ID; Colleen (Charles) Hobson, of North Logan, UT; Peggy (Eric) Pierson, of Logan, UT; Eric (Lachelle) Lindhardt, of Preston, ID; Sara (Darwin) McKee, of Saratoga Springs, UT; Karen (Carl) Wheeler, of Thatcher, ID; Mark (Lana) Lindhardt, of Preston, ID; foster daughter Tilda Woody, 29 grandchildren, and one great grandson, and siblings Sherman, Carol Carter and Ross. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Scott, a daughter-in-law Oleta, a granddaughter Hannah Pierson; and siblings Joyce Cook, and Larry Lindhardt Emmett.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 8, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the Preston North Stake Center, 310 North State Street in Preston with Bishop Alan Atkinson conducting. A viewing will be held on Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at Webb Funeral Home, 1005 South 800 East in Preston, and Thursday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the stake center.
