Raymond DeVerl Naef

Cub River, Idaho - - - Raymond D. Naef

Cub River - After a valiant struggle at McKay-Dee Hospital in Ogden, Utah, on March 10, 2012 Raymond DeVerl Naef ended his time here on earth to return to our Heavenly Father's kingdom. Ray was born on June 5, 1932 in Logan, Utah to Orin Douglas and Ella Durrant Naef. He grew up in Franklin, Idaho with his older brother Farold and his younger sister Melba. He was a graduate of Preston High School, class of 1950. On December 29, 1952, he married his sweetie, LuDell Glover. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple. Their first son, Leon, was born while Dad was serving our country in the Korean War. Together, Ray and LuDell welcomed seven children into their lives. Raymond Leon, Richard Dwaine, Donald Scott, Orin Clair, Linda, David James, and Scott Daniel.

While raising a family and working two jobs, Ray added to the mix night school, where he honed his skills at appliance repair. There are not many people in the Franklin County area who have not had Ray, known to many as Shorty, in their homes to repair an appliance. He worked for many years at U&I Furniture and the Sinclair Service Station in Preston. For a short time he worked in the Road Department for Franklin County. Then he finished his working career at Preston Products in Lewiston, Utah. Throughout his life, money was never something that he made, friends were.

He is survived by his "dear" of nearly 60 years, LuDell of Cub River, ID; his children Richard (Geneva) Naef, of Tremonton, UT; Donald (Jodie) Naef, of Logan, UT; Linda (Jeff) Acock, of Preston, ID; David (Kimberly) Naef, of Arizona City, AZ; and Scott (Krista) Naef, of Dysart, IA; a beautiful array of grandkids, their spouses, great grandchildren, a sister Melba, and numerous nieces and nephews and many friends. He was met to begin his journey to Heaven by two sons, Raymond Leon or Orin Clair, his parents, Ella and Orin and Douglas, a granddaughter Angelica, a brother, Farold and many other family and friends. A beautiful reunion it must have been!

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the Mapleton LDS chapel with Bishop Stuart Burbank conducting. A viewing will be held on Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at Webb Funeral Home, 1005 South 800 East, in Preston, Idaho and Wednesday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the church in Mapleton. The family would like to thank Dr Eskelson and his staff, as well as the doctors, nurses, and staff at McKay Dee Hospital and thank them for the sincere compassion and care they gave to Ray.
