Raymond Louis Bedell

THIS WORLDS LOSS... .HEAVENS GAIN.
On March 8, 2014, my sweet husband, Raymond L. Bedell, left this earth surrounded by those he cared for most. He fought a courageous battle against melanoma cancer. We, his family, would like to thank all those at the Huntsman Cancer Hospital for the loving care they provided for Ray and our family over the last 4 months.

Ray was born and raised in Montpelier, Vermont. Growing up he wrestled, ran cross-country, boxed and played hockey. He loved to fly fish and bow hunt especially with his dad. At the age of 17, he joined the LDS church, then attended Ricks College. After serving a mission to the Philippines, he attended BYU Hawaii where we met on Jan. 13, 1984 marking the first of 10,995 days of togetherness on this earth. He graduated in microbiology from BYU Provo. On Aug. 1, 1985 we were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple marking the beginning of our eternal journey together. He attended medical school in Kirksville, Missouri and did an internship and an anesthesia residency at Michigan State. He practiced chronic pain management helping and caring for hundreds of people.

He loved the outdoors, water sports, 4 wheeling, driving his tractor on the beach at Bear Lake, lunch out on the lake and watching old TV shows and movies. He loved, supported and was so proud of everything his daughters did. He was known for never sitting still, always having some project or invention to improve on, not having a belly button, knowing something about everything or knowing where to look it up, trusting in the will of God, loving his family, working hard and not knowing when to say no to more pets!

His family treasured his "stories". We ask that if a particular story comes to mind that you share it on the online guestbook or we will have cards to write on at the funeral service.

He is leaving behind me, his wife, Shanna, who adored him, our 3 daughters who will treasure their all too short memories with their daddy, Krista, Amy and Heidi, his parents, Clint and Gloria Bedell, his siblings, Clint Jr., Doug, William, Cheryl Atherton (Chris), and Tim (Dianita).

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Webb Funeral Home in Preston, Idaho. A viewing will be held Thursday, March 13 from 6-8 p.m. and Friday March 14 from 9:30-10:30 at the River Heights Stake Center, 800 S. 600 E. in River Heights. A service for Ray will be Friday, March 14 at 11:00 a.m. at the Stake Center as well. Our dream was to retire to Bear Lake so his burial will take place later that day in the St. Charles cemetery overlooking the lake. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at www.webbmortuary.com
