Franklin, Idaho - Ramon Gerald Wright, 79, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at Sunshine Terrace in Logan, Utah. Ramon was born in Franklin, Idaho on October 22, 1935 to George Gerald and Kathleen Rose Talbot Wright in the Wright Homestead Home built by his great grandparents who came to Franklin with the first settlers in 1860. Ramon attended school in Franklin through the 8th grade and then at Preston High School, graduating in 1954. He graduated from Utah State University in 1958 with a bachelor of Science degree in Animal Husbandry. He enlisted in the Idaho National Guard in 1956 and served for eight years. Ramon married his high school sweetheart Lorraine Auger, in the Logan LDS Temple on July 12, 1957. They were blessed with three sons.
Ramon was active in the community. He served as the President of the Franklin Maple Creek Pioneer Irrigation Company from 1975-1995. In the late 70's he was actively involved in planning and installing the gravity pipeline that provides irrigation water for many farmers and town residents. Ramon served in Franklin 1st Ward as Bishopric Clerk, Executive Secretary, Sunday School President and Counselor, Elders Quorum Counselor, Scoutmaster, Troop Committee Chairman, and Home Teacher.
In 1969 Ramon and Lorraine went into partnership with Marlow and Paul Woodward and founded Ritewood Inc. Ramon has served as the Vice President of the corporation for the last 23 years. Through the past 45 years Ramon has helped build numerous brooder, grower, and layer coops. As a self-employed egg farmer and later as a partner in Ritewood, he has helped provide employment opportunities for hundreds of youth in the local area.
Ramon's hobbies were the mountains, which he enjoyed escaping to as often as possible with his friends. First, fishing and hunting as a boy and later with his sons, along with motorcycle rides with the Crew. Later in life, these became 4-wheeler rides and snowmobile trips with grandkids and as many people as could go. He enjoyed these outing greatly until his health made him slow down a tad.
He is survived by his wife, Lorraine, their three sons Randon (Sheila) Wright, of Kaysville, UT; Roger (Kim) Wright, of Franklin, ID; and Russell (Cynthia) Wright of Logan, UT; 17 grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister JoAnn (Darwin) Packard of Boise, ID; and four step-brothers Kent, Bryon, Michael, and Scott Chatterton. He was preceded in death by his parents, and step-mother Ada Johnson Chatterton Wright.
