Peter Lloyd Peterson, 73, quietly passed away July 21, 2023, at his home in Riverdale, Idaho. He was born October 23, 1949, in Riverdale, Idaho to Maxine Forsgren Hendricks and Evan Peterson. He attended school in Preston, Idaho. He graduated from Utah State University with a Bachelor’s Degree. He became a licensed Surveyor and started his own company called Peterson Land Surveying which he operated until he retired.
He grew up on his family’s farm, which he later inherited. He continued to raise cows and farm the land until his passing. He had, only a month prior to his passing, branded and vaccinated 30 head of calves. He loved animals, sometimes maybe more than he loved people! He had a name for all the animals on the farm, even those pesky deer!
In his younger years, he played baseball, football and has many championship trophies. He also loved anything to do with snowmobiles! He raced in many cross-country races with some of his dearest friends. Every Sunday in the winter, you could find him riding snowmobiles. He also helped sponsor the kids of his friends, with the Hill Climbs and Snowcross.
He also loved hunting and camping. Over the years, he got tired of fighting all the people for a spot, and decided to build his own cabin retreat, on the river bottoms of his property. He loved it there. He would float the river, then sit on the deck and watch the sun set, drinking his “Tati’s”. Because of his love for the cabin, his final wishes were to have his ashes laid to rest there.
He is survived by his four children, Billie Peterson, Angie Peterson, Matt Peterson and Kimberly Broadhead and by many grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his mother, Maxine Forsgren Hendricks, by his father, Evan Peterson, and by his step-son, Lucas Jessop.
There will be a Remembrance of Life and final goodbye with just family and close friends. If you haven’t been contacted, you can reach out to his daughter, Billie, for any information. To help with funeral costs, donations may be made to the following go fund me account: http://gofund.me/080228c5
