Peggy Joyce Miller, 82, passed away peacefully on Oct 23, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was born June 22nd, 1942, in Dierks, AR to Carl and Geraldine Huggins. She was the oldest of 5 girls. In 1952 the family moved to Myrtle Creek, OR but it didn’t last long for Peggy…she missed her grandma and grandpa Harris too much, so she went back to Arkansas to live with them. She stayed there 3 years then came back to live with her family in Oregon.
Mom attended and graduated from Douglas High School in Winston, Or. Her high school years were filled with lots of friends and social activities. During her sophomore year she met the love of her life, Roy Miller. They were joined together in marriage on June 3, 1960, in the Looking Class, Oregon Community Methodist Church. Not long after they were married Peggy joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and shortly after that Roy and Peggy were sealed in the Los Angeles, CA temple.
Peggy and Roy moved around a lot while dad was attending college but mostly raised their family in Umpqua, OR. In 1987, they pulled up roots and moved the family to Benson, UT then, eventually Hyde Park, Utah.
Peggy spent her life serving in many callings in the Church, but her favorite calling was anything in the Young Women’s. Especially going to Girls Camp. The girls and other leaders would often tease mom about how much stuff she brought to camp, but her answer was always the same…” Hey, if you need it, I probably have it.” Her motto was “What happens at camp stays at camp”. She loved the girls and was loved by them.
Throughout most of her life Peggy battled several forms of cancer and other serious ailments but always kept a cheerful personality no matter what was thrown at her. She did this by serving and loving, unconditionally her children, grandchildren and anyone she came in contact with. Peggy was a light to many.
Together Peggy and Roy raised 5 fine young boys who brought 5 beautiful wives into the family. Strong family ties were very important to them, a trait they definitely passed on to their boys. She taught us well.
Peggy is survived by her loving, adoring and faithful husband Roy C. Miller, their children Dan (Stephanie) Miller, Dave (Marie) Miller, Andy (Jodi) Miller, Craig (Bridgette) Miller and Tony (Marianne) Miller, Sisters Caroline (Kenny) DeVasaier, Vickie (Mike) Springstead, Shelly (Hal) Strasner and brother-in-law Roy Lytsell, 16 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 4 great, great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, sister Nancy Lytsell and great grandson Dax Olsen.
Special thanks to the staff at Rocky Mountain Care for the loving, tender care they gave mom these past several years and for putting up with Dad and his dog Hey.
