FAIRVIEW, IDAHO - - - Paul Egbert
FAIRVIEW - Paul Egbert, 89, passed away peacefully Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at the home of his son in Nibley, Utah. He was born on March 27, 1922 in Fairview, Idaho to David and Luella Egbert. He was the sixth of eight children, three brothers, and four sisters. He went to school in Fairview until the 8th grade. He farmed with his father and brother until 1942 when he was called into the Army. He served in England and France as a medic until 1946 when he returned home and continued farming. He met Florence Penrod in the spring of 1957 and they were married in the Logan Temple on September 20 1957. They had five children, three boys and two girls.
Paul worked the farm with his brother Vernal for 32 plus years, they were the best of friends and seldom disagreed on anything. He also worked for Cub River Irrigation riding the ditch keeping muskrats under control for many years. In the fall when the sugar beets were harvested he worked for the sugar factory in Whitney, Idaho and Lewiston, Utah until the factories shut down to make extra money for Christmas. After the farm was sold in 1978, he worked at Cache Valley Dairy until he retired in 1982. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and served for many years as the secretary of the Elders Quorum. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and you always knew where he was because he was either whistling or singing some tune. He enjoyed gardening and always had a huge garden which was the envy of the neighborhood.
He is survived by his five children Myron (Connie) Egbert, of Nibley, UT; Carl Egbert of Fairview, ID; Clinton (Michelle) Egbert, New Castle, PA; Sherry (Chevo) Perez, of Logan, UT; Joy Egbert, of Kearns, UT; as well as eight grandchildren.
