Odetta Jennie Porter Monson, 87, passed away on May 7, 2013, at the Heritage Home in Preston, Idaho. She was born April 14, 1926, in Mapleton, Idaho, the daughter of Frederick Earl and Jennie May Gilbert Porter.
She married Axel Elvoid Monson on Dec. 15, 1944, in the Logan, Utah Temple. He preceded her in death on May 26, 1992. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints having served as a secretary in the Sunday School and as ward librarian for over thirty years. She worked many years as a custodian for the LDS Church. She enjoyed crocheting, reading, quilting and travelling. She loved going for car rides.
She is survived by a son-in-law, Don R. Bartlome of Preston; two grandsons, Don-Mikel (Amber) Bartlome of Preston; Nickolas Bartlome of Preston; two brothers and four sisters, Dorin (Lucy) Porter of Mapleton, Idaho; Luana Esplin of Preston; Onda (Keith) Taylor of Thomas, Idaho; Larry (Madge) Porter of Inkom, Idaho; Donna (Jim) Anderson of Tremonton, Utah; and Maxine (Bernard) Lund of Moreland, Idaho. She was preceded in death by her parents, by her husband, by two daughters, Wanda Monson and RaNae Bartlome, by a son, Eldon Monson and by a brother, Woodrow Porter.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2013, at noon in the Whitney Second Ward Chapel, 1444 South 1600 East, Preston, Idaho with Bishop Jim Summers conducting. Friends may call Friday from 6-8 p.m. at Webb Funeral Home, 1005 South 800 East, Preston, Idaho and Saturday from 10:30-11:30 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in the Preston Cemetery.
