Odessa McGregor

Odessa Smith McGregor, 93, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 10, 2016 from causes due to advanced age. She was born January 5, 1923 in Riverdale, Idaho to Samuel and Minnie Smith and she grew up there sharing her life with seven siblings. She attended Riverdale Elementary School, graduated from Oneida Academy in Preston, Idaho and attended Utah State University.

She married Dee Reed McGregor on September 30, 1943 in the Logan Temple. She moved to the McGregor homestead in Mound Valley, Idaho where she spent the remainder of her life as a wonderful hard-working farmer's wife.

Odessa had a respect for the land and  a great love of nature. She always rose early and kept very busy accomplishing much in a day. She maintained a beautiful yard, and was a good wife and mother. Her home was always a welcome place for relatives and friends.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many callings and served willingly. Her thoughtful acts of kindness and service in the community were always appreciated.

She is survived by her four children Martin (Patricia) McGregor, of Midvale, UT; Craig (DrueAnn) McGregor, of Thatcher, ID; D'Ann (Preston deceased) Belnap of Richmond, UT; and Jim (Laura) McGregor of Thatcher, ID. She was loved and will be  missed by her 12 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Dee Reed McGregor, and four brothers Hugo, Dean, Theo, and Dave, and three sisters Joyce, Relda McGregor and Opal McKay.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the Thatcher Williams Ward LDS Chapel in Niter, Idaho. A viewing will be held Friday from 6-8 p.m. at Webb Funeral Home and Saturday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in the Grace Cemetery.
