Provo, Utah - I, Norman Ezra Corbridge, passed away on December 16, 2013 surrounded by my loving wife and children. I was born February 25th of 1931 in our farm house in Preston, Idaho. My parents were Ezra Joshua Corbridge and Pearl Leora Taylor. I had two older sisters, Ila and Donna. I am the last of the family to pass on. I graduated from Preston High School and started work at Safeway Food Stores. I married my high school sweetheart, Jolene Hyde, July 10, 1950, in the Logan Temple. Six months after our marriage I was called to serve to the Great Lakes Mission. Three months after my Mission, I was called to serve my country during the Korean War. Our first son, Alan Lee, was born while I was serving at Fort Sheridan, Illinois. After my discharge I enrolled at Utah State University in the school of engineering. During my freshman year our son, Alan, died at one year of age. Our son, Bret Hyde, was born just before my graduation. I was licensed as a Professional Engineer in the States of Colorado, Idaho and Utah. My first job was with Thiokol Corp. working as a structural engineer, designing handling equipment for the Minute Man Missile. Longing for the out of doors, I accepted a position with the U.S. Forest Service as a Civil engineer. I was assigned to the Payette National Forest in McCall, ID, where our daughter, Kelly Jo was born. I also worked on the Toiyabe NF in Reno, NV and then finally to the Uinta NF in Provo where I finished my career. I consider myself a faithful member of the LDS church. I held many positions in my Wards and Stakes. I have had a good life with a wonderful, supportive wife. I have had a few health issues that I wouldn't have been able to cope without the support of my wife, Jo. She was always there for me. I have received wonderful care from Dr. Chun Hwang and team, The Heart Failure Clinic, and the Artificial Heart Group. They have all tried to make me immortal. They have given me many "bonus" years. I'm temporarily leaving behind: my best friend, Jo, my son Bret (Wanda), my daughter Kelly Jo (Ron Baird), six grandchildren, and lots of neat relatives and friends.
Funeral Services will be Saturday, December 21, 2013, at 11 a.m. in the Pleasant View 4th Ward Chapel, 2900 North 650 East, Provo.
