PRESTON, IDAHO - - NORMA H. JENSEN
PRESTON- Norma Verle Hanni Jensen, 89, returned to the loving arms of her Heavenly Father and her eternal companion on April 25, 2009.
She was born May 2, 1919, in Moore, Idaho, to Martin Hanni and Lucy Jones Hanni. She was the youngest of three children having an older sister and brother. She was raised and educated in Moore, Idaho, graduating from Moore High School. While in high school, she played on the girls championship basketball team.
She married Bert Elmer Boyack on June 5, 1936. A son, Wayne B. Boyack, was born to them. They were later divorced. She married Freaman "Sailor" Jensen on April 15, 1946. Their vows were solemnized later in the Logan Utah LDS Temple. After her marriage to Sailor, she lived in Mink Creek on the family farm. They adopted a baby boy, Ricky Freaman. He passed away in March of 1974.
She enjoyed many church callings while in Mink Creek and Preston. They moved to Preston where she enjoyed working in her beauty shop in her home for many years. She was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. She was a very good cook and many friends and family enjoyed dinners at her home. She grew a lovely garden and kept a neat home. She enjoyed traveling and seeing many places in the United States. She spent the winters in Arizona where she had many good friends. Family and friends were always welcomed in her home. She loved the outdoors, camping and cooking over the campfire with dutch ovens. Sailor passed away in August of 2000. After Sailor's passing, she still went to Arizona for two more winters.
She is survived by a son, Wayne (Reva) Boyack of Preston; grandchildren, Bob (Olivia) Boyack, Bryan (Cristi) Boyack, Dianne (Jeff) Seamons, Tammy (Kevin) Boyack Beck, a granddaughter-in-law, Julie Boyack, a grandson-in-law, Shane Gordon, 14 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great grandchildren, a sister, Velma (Golden) Peterson, a sister-in-law, Millie Hanni, by two special nieces, JoAnn and Sherri, who lived with her on the farm, and by many other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Sailor, of 50 years, a son, Ricky, her parents, a brother, Donald Hanni, a granddaughter, Julie Boyack Gordon, and a grandson, Curtis Boyack.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2009, at noon in the Preston North Stake Center, 310 N. State. Friends may call Saturday from 10:30-11:30 a.m. at the stake center. Interment will be in the Mink Creek Cemetery. Memories and condolences may be sent to the family at www.webbmortuary.com. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made the the LDS Church Missionary Fund.
