Whitney - Nona Chadwick Golightly passed away at the Franklin County Medical Center in Preston, Idaho surrounded by her loving family on January 20, 2012 at the age of 98. She was the first daughter of James Adam Chadwick and Minnie Tomina Jensen Chadwick. She joined one older brother, and was blessed with eight younger sisters and one younger brother, also one foster brother. She was raised in Whitney, Idaho. She graduated from Preston High School. She married Donald Dalley Golightly in the Logan LDS Temple on May 9, 1934. During their seventy years of marriage they raised 12 children and one foster child on the Family Farm in Whitney.

Nona had a strong testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ all of her life. Nona was the life of the party with her strong will and quick wit. She coached softball for several years in the Whitney Ward. They were always the champs. She took the girls to girls camp where all the girls wanted to be in the Whitney Ward. She taught genealogy classes, was a Sunday school teacher, and a faithful visiting teacher. She also did Spanish extraction, and was an officiator in the Logan LDS Temple, was a life-long member of daughters of Utah Pioneers. Don and Nona both served as LDS missionaries to Independence, Missouri mission. They loved traveling together, they went to Hawaii, Mexico, Rome, Italy, Yucatan, the Bahamas, Canada and across the United States. The work of love Nona enjoyed was making quilts for her children and her posterity. One Christmas, she made over 200 quilts. Most of her grandchildren have two or more quilts she made just for them.

She is the mother of seven sons and six daughters and one foster son. Duane (Betty lou) Golightly (deceased), Dorothy (Emmett deceased) Evans, of Duchesne, UT; Marvin (Kaylene) Golightly, of Preston, ID; Eldon (Mary Ann) Golightly, of Preston; Karen (Howard) Shurtleff, of Orem, UT; LuAnn (Bob) Weeks, of Weston, ID; Lynda (Gary) Simonson, of Woods Cross, UT; Boyd (JoAnn) Golightly, of Preston; Craig (Vicki) Golightly, of Preston; Shirley (Dave) Morse, of Logan, UT; Kimber (Kathie) Golightly, of Preston; Donna (Ted) Nye of Logan, Utah; Bruce (Patty) Baird, of Meridian, Idaho. She is also the grandmother of 76 grandchildren, 196 great grandchildren, and 37 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Donald on May 6, 2004, her parents, three younger sisters, seven grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 27, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the Franklin Stake Center with Bishop Shawn Atkinson conducting. A viewing will be held on Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at Webb Funeral Home, 1005 South 800 East, in Preston and Friday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the stake center. Interment will be in the Whitney Cemetery. The family would like to thank her extended family at the Heritage Home and the Franklin County Transitional Care Center, the aides, nurses, and doctors. also her special grandchildren who took time to love and take care of their loving grandmother.
