PRESTON, IDAHO - - MILTON HYDE

PRESTON- Milton E. Hyde, 92, passed away on Friday, Sept. 16, 2011, at the Heritage Home in Preston, Idaho. He was born May 30, 1919, in Cornish, Utah, to Amasa W. and Orpha Baird Hyde. Orpha passed away when Milton was eight years old and Amasa married Ruey Taggart.

He entered the U.S. Navy in 1942 where he was a machinist working on airplanes on the U.S.S. Lexington and also as an instructor. He met Dorothea Ann Rackow while stationed in the Chicago area. They were married on June 14, 1943, in Providence, Rhode Island. After he was discharged from the Navy, he worked as a machinist for Jiffy Metal Products in Chicago. Beverly Jean was born on Nov. 20, 1945 and Lynn Ellen on Nov. 7, 1956.

In 1959, they moved to Preston where they operated Hyde's Mink Ranch. Later, he worked at Pepperidge Farm in Richmond until he retired. He was proud of his yard, flowers and garden. He enjoyed reminiscing about his Navy days, the planes he worked on and the places he traveled, especially the Panama Canal.

He is preceded in death by his daughter, Beverly Jean Haeger (Richard) of Pocatello, Idaho; by his parents, by his step-mother, Ruey Taggart Hyde; by three brothers, LaMont, Norris and Farrell Hyde; a sister, Ileen Knowles and a sister Ramona Hyde who died at birth and is buried with Orpha. He is survived by his wife, Dorothea of Preston; a daughter, Lynn Ellen (Kevin) Weiser of Windsor, Colorado; by a granddaughter, Jodi Lynn (Joseph) Espindola and children Emilee and Antonia of Pocatello; and by a grandson, Michael James Haeger and children Ashley, Michael and Tyler of Idaho Falls, Idaho; by two sisters, Glenna Richardson of Logan, Utah and Venice Sorensen of Brigham City, Utah and by a brother, Stanley Hyde of Portland, Oregon.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, Sept. 19, 2011, at noon at Webb Funeral Home, 1005 South 800 East, Preston, Idaho with Bishop Tom Madsen conducting. Friends may call Monday from 10:30-11:30 a.m. at the mortuary. Military rites and interment will be in the Lewiston, Utah Cemetery.
