MONTPELIER, IDAHO - - MIGNON S. JENSEN
MONTPELIER- Mignon Smith Jensen, 78, passed away on Oct. 30, 2009, at her home in Montpelier. She was born Dec. 5, 1930, in Preston, Idaho, the daughter of Elroy Walker and Lella Alida Neeley Smith. She married David Porter Jensen on March 18, 1949, in Elko, Nevada. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan Temple.
She loved music and played the piano and sang with various groups including the Bear Lake Chord-Busters. She sang many solos at churches and funerals all around. She was a chorister and organist and also accompanied her son when he played the violin when he was young. She enjoyed gardening and always had beautiful flowers. She and David owned and operated Culligan Soft Water in Montpelier for over 50 years. She loved her family and was a help and example to her sisters, brothers, nieces and nephews.
She is survived by her husband, David, of Montpelier; a daughter, Laura Strebel (Mark Bergman) of Ogden, Utah; a son, David Eric Jensen of Vista, California; one grandchild, two great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, four sisters and three brothers, Marlene (Marcel) Chatterton of Tampa, Florida; Karen Serrano of Lake Stephens, Wash; Dalan (Judy) Smith of Three Kings, California; Kelvin (Ann) Smith of Pocatello, Idaho; Joel (Carol) Smith of Montpelier; Star Coulbrooke (Mitch Butterfield) of Smithfield, Utah; LeeAnn (Clyde) Gilbert of Preston, Idaho. She was preceded in death by her parents and by a grandson, Dalan Shane Strebel.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2009, at 12:00 p.m. in the Montpelier 4th Ward Church, 485 S. 7th St., Montpelier, Idaho. Friends may call Monday from 6-8 p.m. at Webb Funeral Home, 109 E. Oneida, Preston, Idaho, and Tuesday from 10:30-11:30 a.m. at the church in Montpelier.
