PRESTON, IDAHO - - MERVIN SMITH
PRESTON- Mervin James Smith, 73, passed away on Sunday, June 13, 2010, at the McKay-Dee Hospital in Ogden, Utah. He was born Nov. 24, 1936, in Hyde Park, Utah, the son of Rulon and Rhelda Perkes Smith. He married Connie K. Dockstader on Oct. 6, 1960.
He enjoyed working on cars and racing them. He also loved hunting, fishing, camping, farming and the great outdoors. He enjoyed caring for his sheep and spending time at the farm. He was a huge joker with everyone! He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He is greatly loved and will be deeply missed. We will all miss you.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Connie Smith, of Preston; four daughters and two sons, Debbie (Lane) Ropelato; LeAnne (Kenneth) Haslam; Cindy (Tod) Jensen; Darrell (Shelly Greenwood) Smith; Lyndon (Alison) Smith; Mandi (Jon) Winn; twenty-two grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Jay (Grace) Smith and Clint (Evon) Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents, by two sisters, one brother, and one grandson.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 18, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. in the Preston Seventh Ward Chapel, 155 N. 2nd W., Preston, with Bishop Jeff Elgan conducting. Friends may call Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at Webb Funeral Home's new facility, 1005 South 800 East, Preston, and Friday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in the Preston Cemetery.
