Moreland, Idaho - - - Merle B. Hatch
Moreland - Merle Belnap Hatch, 90, passed away Monday, November 2, 2009 at the Heritage Home in Preston, Idaho. She was born September 9, 1919 in Moreland, Idaho to Lester and Crystal Vere Ellsworth Belnap. She married Russel Hatch on June 16, 1936 in the Logan Temple.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in the Relief Society presidency as well as the Primary Presidency. She enjoyed spending time with her family and worked alongside her husband for many years. She was a great quilter and seamstress. She always had a wonderful garden and her specialty was raising Bum Lambs and she was a good singer.
She is survived by her son Marvin (Darlene) Hatch of Blackfoot, ID; a daughter Helen (Max) Adams, of Blackfoot, ID; sons Terry (Marilyn) Hatch, of Preston, ID; Lon (Connie) Hatch of Burley, ID; Lester, ID; Lester (Leona) Hatch, of Bruneau, ID; and Dan (Karen) Hatch of Las Vegas, NV; 41 grandchildren, 84 great grandchildren, a brother Wallace (Carol) Belnap, of Mesa AZ; and a sister LaRue (John) Willis, of Logan, UT. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Russel, a son Calvin Hatch, brothers Carl Belnap, Garth Belnap, Vere Berlnap, and Boyd Belnap, and a sister Helen Michaels.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 7, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in the Northwest Stake center, 101 North 900 West, in Blackfoot, Idaho with Bishop Michael Blight conducting. A viewing will be held Saturday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the church prior to the services. Interment will be in the Moreland Cemetery.
