FAIRVIEW- Delsa Maxcine Petersen Bird, 85, passed away on Jan. 3, 2011, at the Heritage Home in Preston, Idaho. She was born Dec. 6, 1925, in Lyman, Wyoming, the daughter of John and Sophronia Miller Petersen. She married Ross Curtis Bird on Sept. 22, 1943, in the Logan UtahTemple.

She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints having served as Primary President, Relief Society Counselor and as a Visiting Teacher. She enjoyed family history and temple work. She also served an LDS mission with her husband at the Independence Missouri Visitor's Center.

She loved camping, gardening, cooking, traveling, crocheting and sewing. She also loved riding horses. Most of all, she loved being a mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her husband, Ross Bird of Preston; her crowned jewels, Dora Kay (Merlin) Hysell of Mountain View, Wyoming; Christine (Bob) Stoddard of Fort Bridger, Wyoming; Esther (Kenny) Aimone of Fort Bridger, Wyoming; Rexann (Steve) Cronin of Cody, Wyoming; Craig (Roxy) Bird of Thayne, Wyoming; Darlene (Kevin) Atkinson of Preston, Idaho; twenty-six grandchildren, sixty great-grandchildren, six great great-grandchildren; and by a daughter-in-law, Laurie Bird of Preston, Idaho. She was preceded in death by a son, Wandel Bird; by twin grandsons, Denny and Danny Bird; by two brothers, four sisters and her parents.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, Jan. 7, 2011, at noon in the Fairview First Ward Chapel, 145 W. 4800 S., Preston, Idaho, with Bishop Howard D. Nelson conducting. Friends may call Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at Webb Funeral Home's new facility, 1005 South 800 East, Preston, Idaho, and Friday from 10:30-11:30 a.m. at the church.
