Maureen Howell Hollingsworth, 81, passed away Monday, April 16, 2018 peacefully at her home in Preston, Idaho. She was born on May 12, 1936 to Claude C. and Marjorie Phillips Howell in Preston, Idaho. She was the oldest child and loved her siblings Carolyn (Bart) Paskins, Kent (Judy) Howell, and Randy Howell (Geoff McIntosh). She enjoyed her childhood years on the family farm in Clifton working hard alongside her family. She graduated from West Side High School in 1954.
Maureen married William (Bill) Hollingsworth in the Logan Temple before Bill entered the Army and was sent to Korea in 1953. They had three children together, Cyndie, Jeff, and Mike. They were married for 30 years before divorcing.
She was known by all as a beautiful, hardworking, and industrious person. Throughout her life she worked at several places including being a dental assistant for Dr. Nichols and Dr. Stokes, working at Mel’s Drug, IHD, ZCMI, Palmer Motor, and Franklin County Grain Growers making many friends over the years. Maureen was a wonderful cook and hosted many family parties at the home where she lived and loved for 57 years.
Maureen was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in many positions during her lifetime.
She is survived by her daughter Cyndie (Garth) Jacobson, of Weston, ID; her daughter-in-law Julie Hollingsworth, of Preston, and her son Michael Hollingsworth of Preston. Along with grandkids that she loved, Landon, Luke, Lance, and Lauren Hollingsworth and Jessica Miller. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Carolyn, her son Jeffery W. Hollingsworth and three granddaughters Jennifer, Heather, and Holly Jo.
Funeral services will be held Monday, April 23 at 11:00 a.m. in the Preston 10th Ward Chapel, 155 North 200 West, in Preston. A viewing will be held on Sunday from 6-8 p.m. at Webb Funeral Home, and Monday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in the Preston Cemetery.
