Marvin Ray Archibald

Dayton, Idaho                                 Marvin R. Archibald

A wonderful Cowboy, Marvin Ray Archibald, 72, took his final ride over the mountains on Monday, October 6, 2014 at the Franklin County Transitional Care Center in Preston, Idaho after a courageous battle with lung cancer.  He was surrounded by his loving family.  Marvin was born in Preston, Idaho on November 15, 1941 to Ray and Areta Bebee Archibald.

Marvin's greatest joy were his family and friends.  Marv was an amazing water skier.  He also loved snowmobiling, snow skiing and sitting around the campfire with all his friends and family.  One of his favorite pastimes was sitting with his friends drinking coffee at the local coffee shop solving all the world's problems.  He was an accomplished leather worker, dutch oven cook, and horseman.  Marv was at home on a horse in the mountains more than anywhere else.  No matter where Marv was, there was always joy, laughing, teasing and fun.

In his younger years, Marv worked for Valley Paving then later owned his own cement business called Archibald Construction.  He was a master of concrete and its various applications and was known for his exceptional work.  He also drove truck with Dennis Cole at Cole Trucking and worked as a mechanic for Wade LaMont.  In his later years he was a water master with the Mink Creek Irrigation company where he spent many hours making sure that his water customers were taken care of.  Along with that job came many cups of coffee.  He retired from the irrigation company in 2010.

Marv is survived by his son Victor Ray Archibald, of Las Vegas, NV; and his daughter Marti Lin Archibald, of Idaho Falls, ID; his grandchildren Ricki (Ron) Miller, Dillon Archibald, Mandie Horrocks, Danyelle Felde, Becki Felde, and his great grandchildren Alexis Ramirez and Jase Ramirez, Saij Archibald and Merci Horrocks.  He is also survived by his sister Caryol (Jerry) Tolman, and many nieces and nephews that will miss him very much.  He also leaves behind his faithful horse "Dudley."  He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Norma Whitney, brother Gordon Archibald and a good friend and soul mate Vickie, of Tooele, UT.  And of course we can't forget his many four-legged buddies that took him on his wonderful mountain rides.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Webb Funeral Home, 1005 South 800 East in Preston.   A viewing will be held on Friday From 6-8 p.m. at Webb Funeral Home and Saturday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. also at the funeral home.  Interment will be in the Dayton Cemetery.  Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at www.webbmortuary.com
